How We’re Making a Difference
SM Youth Initiative is the San Marcos Rotary, San Marcos High School Interact and CSUSM Rotaract Clubs bringing 100 One World Futbols to local underserved youth in San Marcos.
The Boys & Girls Club of San Marcos is part of a nationwide movement of community-based, autonomous organizations and Boys & Girls Clubs of America working to help youth of all backgrounds develop the qualities needed to become responsible citizens and leaders.
The Boys & Girls Club is committed to serving the needs of boys and girls 6 to 18 years of age during the critical hours when they are out of school and away from parental supervision. The Boys & Girls Club gives children what they need most: a safe environment where they can have fun and be themselves; adult role models who respect and listen to them; and interesting and constructive educational and recreational activities that channel youthful energy into challenging and productive pursuits.
Today, over 5,000 young people are taking advantage of the programs, activities and services provided by the Boys & Girls Club of San Marcos. The Club’s vision is to provide a world-class Club Experience that assures success is within reach of every young person who comes through their doors, with all members on track to graduate from high school with a plan for the future, demonstrating good character and citizenship and living a healthy lifestyle.
We ran this campaign with One World Play Project to raise ultra-durable One World Futbols, soccer balls that never need a pump and never go flat, for the Boys & Girls Club of San Marcos.
One World Futbols are needed because the surfaces that children play on are very rough and harsh. Standard soccer balls deflate and become unusable very quickly, which prevents children from playing. One World Futbols will last much longer and will allow children to play as long as they want — and the Boys & Girls Club of San Marcos to devote precious resources to other needs.
Through this campaign, we raised 2 One World Futbols.
