How We're Making a Difference
Utah’s Hogle Zoo, the Turtle Survival Alliance and Conservation Fusion are working together in innovative ways and are using soccer as a culturally relevant way to create conservation awareness for the Radiated Tortoise and other imperiled wildlife in southern Madagascar.
By providing a conservation awareness program along with One World Futbols and other sports equipment to a primary school or a soccer club in each of the 10 villages that are critical to the survival of these species, we aim to inspire actions these communities can take to protect the Radiated Tortoise and their habitat.
Ultra-durable One World Futbols will help us share the message “Protect the Radiated Tortoise” through organized sports programs. The One World Futbol is a soccer ball that never needs a pump and never goes flat. It was designed to survive play on the world’s harshest terrains and is a tool we can count on.
The One World Futbol will last for years in the villages in which we work. Through play-based environmental education and public awareness programs, we hope the youth will be motivated and inspired to take action to protect the Radiated Tortoise. We hope the longevity of the One World Futbol will become a metaphor for the longevity of the Radiated Tortoise in southern Madagascar.
Through this campaign, we raised 107 One World Futbols and $170 to be put toward the purchase of additional equipment and uniforms for the children in the communities we visit in Madagascar.
